Leaving ServiceTitan? Contracts, add-ons and switching
Leaving ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro: what reviewers report about contracts and cancelling, who is well served by staying, and what owning changes.
Leaving ServiceTitan and leaving Housecall Pro are searches usually made by someone who has already read their contract once. Field-service platforms are sold on what they do for a busy shop -- dispatch, quotes, invoices, payments -- and the complaints that reach public review sites are more often about the arrangement than about the software.
This page quotes what reviewers have written, says who is better off staying, and describes what moving a small crew to software you own involves.
What reviewers report
Each of the following is one reviewer's report of their own experience, quoted exactly as it was written. It is evidence of what that person reported, not a finding about either company.
Service Titan is very robust but they nickel and dime you for all the add ons.
-- a reviewer of ServiceTitan on Trustpilot, July 2026 (the review page)
The cancellation terms are brutal and they are not clearly communicated upfront.
-- a reviewer of ServiceTitan on Trustpilot, July 2026 (the review page)
They sell you on all the great things about it and lock you in on a contract.
-- a reviewer of ServiceTitan on Trustpilot, July 2026 (the review page)
I've literally been trying to cancel my subscription for a month. I only get automated responses and customer service left me on delivered for 2 weeks.
-- a reviewer of Housecall Pro on Trustpilot, September 2026 (the review page)
Client cleared an ACH payment eight days ago and it's still sitting pending. Payroll was Friday.
-- a contractor reviewing Housecall Pro on Trustpilot, September 2026 (the review page)
The first review opens by calling the product very robust, and that is worth keeping in view: the complaints here are about add-ons, cancellation terms, contracts and reaching a person, not about capability. The last one is different in kind. In that contractor's account, a customer's payment sat pending while payroll came due. When field-service software is also the payment processor, a customer's money passes through it on the way to the business -- a structural fact about that arrangement, whichever vendor runs it.
Who is well served by staying
Many trade businesses are well served by these platforms. ServiceTitan is a full suite for larger operations -- dispatching, payroll, memberships and deep reporting in one system, with a vendor on the phone. A larger shop with a call centre and many technicians, which needs those things in one place, is well served by staying, and Jobora attempts none of them. Housecall Pro's own page describes customers booking and paying online around the clock, from Google or the business's own website, and a team that wants booking, payments and financing in one hosted place has a reasonable answer in staying where it is. Jobora has no customer booking page and takes no payments.
What switching involves
The contract comes first. Three of the reviews above are about exactly this. The end date, the notice period and any terms for ending early are written in the agreement and the terms it points to, and they decide when a move can happen. No software, ours included, changes them.
Then the records. Customers and sites, job history, open quotes, visits already scheduled and invoices still unpaid are the working set. What a platform lets you export, and how completely, is the question to put to it.
Then the money, and a cut-over date. Payments already in flight on the old platform settle there. From the cut-over, invoices carry your own payment link and the customer pays your provider or your bank directly. Jobs booked before the date finish in the old system; new work goes on the new board.
What owning the copy changes
There is no term, because there is nothing to renew: the licence is bought once, and the size of the crew does not meter it. Nothing is charged per technician or per job.
Money never sits inside it. Jobora never processes a payment, which is why it can never hold money: the customer pays your provider or your bank, and marking an invoice paid records a fact. There is no balance in the software to wait on.
The records stay with you -- jobs, quotes, costs, signatures and photos in a database on a server you chose. The honest cost is that the server is yours to look after.
What Jobora does, and what it does not
- A schedule board with a lane per technician: drag a visit to another day or person and it moves, or is refused in plain words if it would double-book somebody.
- One conflict rule behind the board, the booking form, the API and the AI tools, so they can never disagree.
- Quotes with line items, tax and a discount, accepted by the customer from a link with no login and converted to a job exactly once.
- Job costing: labour, materials and subcontractor costs against what was quoted, with the margin shown as unknown, never zero, when nothing was quoted.
- Invoices on the same integer-cent money engine as Invora, sign-off captured at the door, before-and-after photos, and PDFs for the customer and for you.
What it does not do: it never processes payments. It holds no stock, and recurring work is not generated automatically. The customer sees one document at a time, with no login and no history. Email is off until you switch it on, through your own SMTP server, and a captured signature is not identity verification. There is no native mobile app and no offline mode; it is responsive web, in English, one business per installation.
Questions people ask
Does Jobora take card payments in the field? No, and deliberately not. An invoice carries your own payment link, the customer pays your provider, and you mark it paid. Jobora never holds money, so it cannot hold yours.
Is Jobora priced per technician? No. The licence is bought once, and the size of the crew does not meter it.
Can Jobora run a call centre, payroll or memberships? No. It is quotes, scheduling, job costing and invoices for a small crew; a shop that needs a call centre and payroll in one system is the one described under staying.
Where to look next
The product page is Jobora, with its limits in the product's own words, and the Field-Service Suite holds it alongside the other field tools. The ServiceTitan alternatives page and the Housecall Pro page set each platform against what this store sells, with a source and a read date for every statement, and the side-by-side puts the rented options together. For what any of them charges, read the observatory: every figure there sits beside the date it was read and a link to its source. Prices are on the observatory; read them on the date shown there.
