Packaging register software you own
Packaging register software you own: per-SKU materials, units by state and year, and a report pack that stays on your own server.
Packaging register software is a category most producers meet by being told to file a report. The report asks one question, and it is deceptively simple: for each product you sell, what packaging does it ship in, and how many units went into each state in each year?
Almost nobody has that in one place. It is scattered across a product spreadsheet, a shipping export, a supplier specification sheet and somebody's memory, and the duty repeats annually, which means the scramble repeats annually too.
What the register actually is
Packora is a per-SKU packaging register. Each product carries its packaging components with their materials and weights; units sold are recorded by state and by year; and the report pack is produced per state, per year, from those two inputs.

That is the whole shape, and describing it plainly is the point: it is a register and a set of arithmetic, not an advisory service. The value is that the answer exists next year without anybody rebuilding it, because the register is where the data lives rather than where it is assembled from.
What owning the copy changes
Annual work fits badly with monthly pricing. A duty that produces one filing a year, from data entered across the year, does not want a subscription that charges twelve times for it. Packora is licensed per installation, so the register is there when the cycle comes round and costs nothing while it waits.
The second change is the reference data. Materials, deadlines and rates are yours to maintain, which sounds like a burden and is actually the safer arrangement: it means the figures in the register are the ones you entered and verified with your own scheme, rather than a vendor's copy of a schedule that may have been amended since.
What to look for
Packaging held per SKU, with components. A product is rarely one material. A register that holds one material per product is describing something else.
Units by state and by year as first-class data. Because that is the axis the report asks for, and deriving it from an order export every cycle is where the time goes.
Data-completeness warnings. A register that tells you which SKUs have no packaging recorded is doing the most useful thing it can do two months before a deadline.
A fee estimator you can read. Packora estimates from the rates you entered. That is a different and more honest thing than a figure a vendor supplies: the arithmetic is visible and the inputs are yours.
A deadline tracker with a reminder ladder that reaches people. Not a portal that files on your behalf.
Exports that are files. A report pack you produce and submit yourself, in the format your scheme wants.
The limits, stated plainly
The scope is United States state programmes. There is no European or Canadian programme logic and no integration with any producer responsibility organisation. Fee figures are estimates from the rates you entered -- there is no eco-modulation, no minimum handling and no mid-year schedule change built in, and the product says outright that you verify the reference data with your scheme each cycle. Granularity is annual, matching the annual reporting cadence, so this is not a monthly management tool. One company per installation, shared by your team through roles.
And the sentence that matters most: reminders reach people, not portals. Packora never files, submits or logs in anywhere for you. It is a record, and a record does not determine anything about your position -- what the report means and what your scheme expects of you is between you, your scheme and your advisers.
Questions people ask
Does it file the report? No. It produces the report pack per state and per year, and the filing is yours. Nothing in it logs into a portal on your behalf.
Where do the fee estimates come from? From the rates you entered. The arithmetic is shown, and the product states plainly that the reference data is yours to verify with your scheme each cycle.
Does it cover European packaging schemes? No. The scope is United States state programmes, and it is better to know that before downloading than after.

The product page is Packora, with the whole feature record and its limits in the product's own words, and the side-by-side sets it against the hosted compliance platforms. If the wider question is registers in general rather than packaging specifically, the Compliance Suite holds the related products. For what the hosted platforms charge, read the observatory: each figure is quoted verbatim beside the date it was read and a link to the page it came from.
