Tokora — Queue & Token Display System (PHP + MySQL, Self-Hosted) vs. renting SaaS
Self-hosted queue & token display — issue numbers, call them to counters, run the waiting-room board.

SaaS figures use the cited plan price above (see the sources below); per-seat plans scale by the seat count from the same cited price. This is arithmetic, not a quote.

Qtrac (now Frontlion) [4]
No single-location price is published: the quote is assembled per location per month by tier and module (modules list from $59 to $295 per location). Their own worked example reads "your estimate $1,144/mo 8 locations · tier 2 · 2 modules", plus one-time deployment "$11,000 to $14,000"
No monthly figure is stored because none applies to a single counter: the only complete number on the page is an ESTIMATE for eight locations with two modules, and putting $1,144 beside a one-counter shop would misread their own estimator. What the row does carry is the shape — per location, per module, per tier, with a five-figure one-time deployment before anything runs. Tokora is $69 once and installs itself.
How their pricing grows: Frontlion prices per LOCATION per month, then again per MODULE, and adds a one-time deployment fee before the subscription starts.
“plus one time deployment, $11,000 to $14,000”
What Qtrac (now Frontlion) does that we don't: Frontlion assembles the quote from how a site actually runs rather than from a tier ladder, and lists every module rate openly instead of hiding them behind a call.
Stay with Frontlion if you run queues across many branches and need appointments, messaging and integrations managed for you. Tokora is the board itself: issue numbers, call them to counters, run the waiting-room display — one payment, one installation, no deployment fee.
Why owning beats renting here
- One payment. No per-month, per-seat, or per-location fees — the license is perpetual.
- Your data stays on your server. Customer records never live in someone else's cloud.
- No plan ceilings. Records, users, and usage are limited by your hosting, not a pricing tier.
- It keeps working if the vendor doesn't. Self-hosted software can't be sunset out from under you.
Fair trade-offs: you host it, you back it up, and updates are yours to apply — see the product page for honest limitations.
