The subscription math.

Yours Fleetora $69 once · self-hosted · your data on your server Buy once
Rented Fleetio Essential $4 per vehicle, per month billed annually ($5 billed monthly); Professional $7 and Premium $10 per vehicle/month, annual only [1]

4 months of Fleetio costs what Fleetora costs once.

What Fleetio does that we don't. Fleetio ships native iOS and Android apps, so drivers and technicians can work from a phone in the yard rather than at a desk.
The fine print

How their pricing grows. Fleetio's displayed price is a band rather than a bill - what you actually pay depends on the plan, the size of the fleet, the contract term and the payment term, and the advertised per-vehicle rates assume a five-asset annual band.

“Fleetio subscriptions are priced based on plan, fleet size range, contract term, and payment term.” Read 2026-08-22.

Who should stay with Fleetio. If you need work orders, parts inventory, a telematics feed, or native apps that keep working out of signal, stay with Fleetio - Fleetora has no work orders and no parts inventory, and its phone install is a web app whose pages are network-only, so it is useless without a connection.

How we counted. Per vehicle, per month. The $20/mo figure is 5 vehicles x $4 on Essential annual - the configuration Fleetio's own footnote says its displayed prices assume ('a fleet with 5 assets subscribing to an Essential 5, Professional 5, or Premium 5 annual plan band'). A 25-vehicle fleet multiplies out to $100/mo, but Fleetio warns that is a band, not a quote. Its footnote says the shown prices assume a 5-asset annual band. Re-read 2026-09-26: unchanged. Fleetora is bought once, for any fleet size.

Rented Simply Fleet Essential $2 per vehicle per month ($10/mo for 5 vehicles, or $20/vehicle/yr - $100/yr for 5); Advanced $4 per vehicle per month ($20/mo or $200/yr for 5) [2]

7 months of Simply Fleet costs what Fleetora costs once.

What Simply Fleet does that we don't. Simply Fleet's Advanced tier adds work-order management, parts inventory and a telematics integration.
The fine print

How their pricing grows. Simply Fleet meters strictly per vehicle with no tier jumps or per-module fees, which makes the bill predictable and also makes it linear - it grows with every vehicle added and never stops.

“No tier jumps, no per-module fees, no annual contracts required.” Read 2026-08-22.

Who should stay with Simply Fleet. If you need work orders, parts inventory or a telematics feed, stay with Simply Fleet — Fleetora has none of those, and no fuel log; services and odometer readings are entered by hand.

How we counted. Per vehicle, per month, and the $10 figure is Simply Fleet's own rendering for a 5-vehicle fleet. Simply Fleet also lists a free plan for up to 5 vehicles (read 2026-09-24): below that size the free plan is the cheaper answer, and the case for Fleetora is ownership and data control. The same rate multiplies out to $50/mo at 25 vehicles; annual billing is $20 per vehicle per year, about $1.67 a month.

Rented Azuga BasicFleet $25 per vehicle per month; SafeFleet $30; CompleteFleet $35; AI SafetyCam "starting at just $49.99/month". One price per plan; the page shows no annual or monthly switch [3]

3 months of Azuga costs what Fleetora costs once.

What Azuga does that we don't. Azuga is live GPS telematics: real-time location, driver scoring and rewards, dash-cam footage — hardware in every vehicle.
The fine print

How their pricing grows. Azuga meters PER VEHICLE PER MONTH, on every plan, with the safety camera billed per month on top.

“$25 Per Vehicle Per Month” Read 2026-08-30.

Who should stay with Azuga. Stay with Azuga if you need live GPS location, driver behavior scoring or dash cams — that is telematics, and Fleetora does none of it. Fleetora is the register: which document expires when, which service is due, which defect is open.

How we counted. The entry plan per vehicle per month; a ten-vehicle fleet pays ten times this every month, and the dash cam is another line on top. Re-read 2026-09-26: the three plan prices are unchanged; the AI SafetyCam now starts at $49.99 a month (it read $41.99 on 2026-09-03). Fleetora is one payment for the whole register, however many vehicles are on it.

Work out your own numbers.

The rented figures use the cited plan price above; per-seat plans scale by the seat count from that same cited price. This is arithmetic, not a quote.

Whip Around [4] No public price - the vendor withdrew its pricing page; www.whiparound.com/pricing now answers 301 to the homepage, which shows no price, only 'Free Trial' and 'Book a Demo' (2026-09-26) The pricing page is gone, so the figures this row carried until now (Standard $5 USD/asset/mo, Pro $9, a free Basic tier for 1 asset and 1 user, last confirmed 2026-08-22) cannot be confirmed and are withdrawn rather than shown as current. Re-read 2026-09-26: /pricing and www./pricing both 301 to the homepage, and the homepage names no price. Per asset, per month was the shape when it was published. Fleetora is one payment for the whole register.
How their pricing grows. Whip Around meters by asset, and its free tier holds exactly one vehicle and one login, so any fleet worth calling a fleet is on a paid per-asset plan from the first day.
“Up to 1 asset (vehicle & equipment) Up to 1 user”
What Whip Around does that we don't. Whip Around's Pro tier adds parts and inventory management, purchase orders, mechanic profiles and barcode scanning for inspections.
If you need structured inspection forms - custom checklists a driver completes and signs on a schedule - stay with Whip Around; Fleetora has no form builder and no scheduled inspection workflow. It records the faults a driver reports, not the checklist they walked.
Samsara [5] No public price - quote-gated (verified) The pricing page is a fleet-size questionnaire, not a price list - no figure renders anywhere on it. Samsara is also a different class of product: it sells hardware in the vehicle, which Fleetora does not do at all.
How their pricing grows. Samsara publishes no price for any plan; the pricing page asks how large the fleet is and routes the answer to a quote.
“Check our prices”
What Samsara does that we don't. Samsara is a telematics platform - live GPS, routing, fuel and compliance streamed from devices fitted in the vehicles.
If you need live GPS tracking, AI dash cams or ELD hours-of-service compliance, stay with Samsara - Fleetora has no telematics, no devices and no GPS. It is a register you type into, not a tracker.
Fleet Complete [6] No public price — five packages (Basic Compliance, Fleet Insights, VisionAI Hub Insights, Insights Solution Suite, Asset Insights), "Contact Us"; "Pricing may vary depending on your fleet size, operations and your reporting needs" Five named packages and no figure on any; the page says the price follows fleet size and reporting needs. Fleetora publishes its price and does not count vehicles.
How their pricing grows. Fleet Complete is priced on FLEET SIZE and reporting scope, quoted per customer.
“Pricing may vary depending on your fleet size, operations and your reporting needs”
What Fleet Complete does that we don't. Fleet Complete (Powerfleet) is a telematics platform: ELD compliance, GPS, AI dash cams, asset trackers.
Stay with Fleet Complete if you need ELD compliance, live GPS or in-cab cameras — hardware telematics that Fleetora does not attempt. Fleetora is the expiry, servicing and defect register on your own server.

Why owning beats renting here.

One payment

No per-month, per-seat or per-location fees: the license does not expire.

Your data

Your data sits on a server you choose; customer records are not held in a vendor's cloud unless you put them there.

No plan ceilings

Records, users and usage are limited by your hosting, not by a pricing tier.

If the vendor stops

It keeps working if the vendor doesn't: no one can switch your copy off, and keeping it up to date is in your hands.

The fair trade-offs: you host it, you back it up, and updates are yours to apply. The product page lists what Fleetora deliberately doesn't do.
