Consigna — Self-Hosted Consignment & Resale-Shop Manager
Self-hosted consignment shop software with penny-exact payouts — an open alternative to SimpleConsign.
The problem it solves
Every consignment and resale shop settles the same question every day: who gets what when this sells? Most answer it with a spreadsheet, a shoebox of intake slips, and a monthly afternoon of dread when consignors ask for their money.
- Consignment SaaS is sold on metered monthly plans that keep charging every month you keep the doors open
- Your consignor list and sales history live on someone else's servers
- There is no plan to outgrow, only a bill that keeps recurring
What you get
Penny-exact split math
Money is stored in integer cents and splits in integer basis points, so consignor plus shop always equals the sale price, with the rounding penny landing in exactly one pocket.
Consignor ledger & live balances
Track contact details, default split, payout method, and a live balance of exactly what you owe each consignor.
Item intake with expiry tracking
Auto-suggested sequential SKUs, categories, and a days-on-floor policy that flags stale stock.
Payout guard
A payout ledger that refuses to pay a consignor more than they're owed.
Printable statements & CSV exports
Generate a printable per-consignor statement for any date range plus spreadsheet-safe CSV exports of items, sales, and payouts.
Dashboard
See active items, sales this month, total owed, top consignors, and items past expiry at a glance.
Installable mobile app (PWA)
Add it to a phone or tablet home screen straight from the browser — a full-screen app served from your own server, with no app store involved. Business data is never cached offline, so what you see is always live.
Own It 2.0 — API, 2FA, backups, dark mode
Consigna 2.0 adds the 2.0 owner layer. Upgrade by replacing the files — the database migrates itself, and it is still the same one-time purchase.
- REST API with an OpenAPI spec and signed webhooks
- Two-factor sign-in (TOTP)
- Email notifications through your own SMTP
- CSV import with a mandatory dry run
- One-click backups
- Dark mode
Own It 3.0 — works for your AI, not just for you
Consignors get a personal read-only portal link — what sold, what they earned, what they are owed — stored hashed, shown once, revocable any time, with no write route behind it. The settlement PDF prints every sale with its split, every payout and the balance from the same engine the screens use.
- MCP endpoint — your AI works under the same guards you face
- Roles with email invitations and a last-admin guard
- Append-only audit trail across browser, API and agent
- Your logo and colours throughout
- Scheduled backups with a guided dry-run restore
- Optional single sign-on (OIDC)

No reviews yet — so here is what we offer instead. Every competitor price on our comparison pages is source-linked and dated, and when a vendor’s price won’t load we say so rather than guess. See the sources for yourself →

Honest limitations
- No barcode scanner / label printer / cash drawer hardware integration
- No built-in payment processing — payouts are recorded, not transmitted
- Statements are print-to-PDF via your browser's print dialog, not server-generated PDF files
- Single-tenant: one admin login per installation
- No consignor self-service portal (statements are printed/emailed by you)
Web installer sets up in about two minutes on PHP 8+ with MySQL or SQLite, standard shared hosting compatible; Dockerfile included.
Covered in these guides
Five verified SaaS list prices, sourced and dated, multiplied by 36 months — next to the one-time price of owning the equivalent self-hosted tool. Arithmetic, not a quote.
Spreadsheets are genuinely fine — until specific failure modes appear. The honest thresholds for moving to a real tool, and which category to look at when you cross one.
ConsignCloud is $139/month and SimpleConsign is $159. We checked both against the vendors' own pages after a comparison site published three figures that were all wrong. Here are the real numbers and the arithmetic that matters.
Frequently asked questions
Is the math actually right?
That's the product. Integer cents plus basis points, round-half-up, remainder to the shop, invariant-tested across odd prices and awkward splits. The offline test suite ships in the box so you can verify it yourself.
Will this run on shared hosting?
Yes. PHP 8+ with pdo — present on virtually all cPanel/Plesk hosts. MySQL and SQLite are both supported, and a web installer sets it up in about two minutes.
What about my existing data?
Consignors and items are quick manual entry, and everything exports to CSV at any time — you are never locked in.
Does it include point-of-sale hardware?
No — Consigna is the consignment ledger, not the register. It doesn't cover barcode scanners, cash drawers, or receipt printers.
