Revup — Self-Hosted Review-Request Automation
Self-hosted review-request software with a rating gate — an open alternative to NiceJob, one-time price.
The problem it solves
Review-request SaaS platforms charge hundreds of dollars per month, per location, usually on an annual contract — for what is, mechanically, a simple loop: send a link, ask for stars, route happy customers to your public review page, and catch unhappy ones privately before they vent in public.
- Cancel the subscription and the loop stops
- Your contacts and rating history live on someone else's servers
- Local businesses, agencies, and freelancers all pay this same recurring toll for one simple workflow
What you get
Rating gate routing
Ratings at or above your threshold route straight to your public review page, while lower ratings land in a private feedback inbox that's never published.
Unique single-use rating links
Every customer gets a unique, single-use rating token, so each request is tracked from send to outcome.
Bring-your-own SMTP & Twilio
Send email through your own SMTP server and SMS through your own Twilio account, or run fully manual with copy-paste links.
Feedback inbox
Private feedback lands in a mark-handled inbox visible only to you, never published or sent anywhere.
Dashboard
Track requests sent, response rate, average rating, rating distribution, and gated-away count in one place.
Self-hosted, one-time purchase
Install once on PHP 8+ with MySQL or SQLite on standard shared hosting — no subscription, no per-request metering.
Installable mobile app (PWA)
Add it to a phone or tablet home screen straight from the browser — a full-screen app served from your own server, with no app store involved. Business data is never cached offline, so what you see is always live.
Own It 2.0 — API, 2FA, backups, dark mode
Revup 2.0 adds the 2.0 owner layer. Upgrade by replacing the files — the database migrates itself, and it is still the same one-time purchase.
- REST API with an OpenAPI spec and signed webhooks
- Two-factor sign-in (TOTP)
- Email notifications through your own SMTP
- CSV import with a mandatory dry run
- One-click backups
- Dark mode
Own It 3.0 — works for your AI, not just for you
Send windows spread an import of four hundred customers across days instead of one alarming minute — preview the schedule, then release each batch yourself; nothing sends on a timer you cannot see. Reply templates offer thanks or apology matched to the rating.
- MCP endpoint — your AI works under the same guards you face
- Roles with email invitations and a last-admin guard
- Append-only audit trail across browser, API and agent
- Your logo and colours throughout
- Scheduled backups with a guided dry-run restore
- Optional single sign-on (OIDC)

Honest limitations
- Single-tenant: one business, one admin login per installation
- Plain-text email (deliverability-friendly); no HTML email designer
- No scheduling, drip sequences, or automatic follow-ups
- Twilio is the only built-in SMS provider
- No direct Google/Yelp API integration — the gate links to your public review URL
- Review-platform policy compliance is the operator's responsibility
Web installer takes about two minutes; runs on PHP 8+ with MySQL or SQLite on standard shared hosting.
Frequently asked questions
Are my SMTP/Twilio credentials safe?
They are stored in your database on your own server, used only for sends you trigger, never echoed back into the settings form once saved, and never passed through any third-party infrastructure.
Will this run on shared hosting?
Yes. Revup needs PHP 8+ with pdo and curl — present on virtually all cPanel/Plesk hosts. MySQL and SQLite are both supported, and the web installer takes about two minutes.
What if I don't configure SMTP or Twilio?
Manual mode: every request still gets its unique rating link, shown on the Requests screen for copy/paste into any channel. The gate, feedback inbox, and dashboard all work identically.
What does sending cost?
Email costs whatever your SMTP already costs (usually nothing extra). SMS is billed by Twilio directly at their own pay-as-you-go rates — Revup itself meters nothing.
